Audition Information

Horizon is for singers who:

• are ages 26 and up

• are passionate about choral music

• have choral singing experience

• are strong sight readers

• understand the importance of blend and using appropriate choral vocal technique

Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays, 7:00-9:30 at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Please fill in this audition form by the deadline of June 11.

2. Please send a short video of yourself singing an a cappella piece by the deadline of June 11. At the end of your video, tell us a bit about yourself and why you would like to sing with Horizon. We will contact the successful applicants for an audition. Please note, we are looking for good choral tone, technique and appropriate vocal range in your song choice. Videos should be sent to johanna@prairievoices.ca.

Applicants selected for an in-person audition will be asked to:

• Sight-sing a few musical passages with varying difficulty

• Basic ear training skill evaluation (sing back simple musical passages)

• Sing simple scales and vocal exercises to determine singer’s vocal range

• Participate in a short discussion with the director and assistant
